Atlanta Bar Association Announces New Executive Director Terri Beck
ATLANTA (Jan. 31, 2013) – The Atlanta Bar Association welcomes Terri Beck as its new Executive Director, effective Jan. 14, 2013. She succeeds Diane O’Steen who served as the Atlanta Bar’s Executive Director for 27 years.
Beck brings more than 13 years of experience in management and leadership to the Atlanta Bar Association. She will continue to support President Lynn Roberson’s goals to promote the Atlanta Bar and its good deeds, funding for the courts and to educate the community about the legal system process. As executive director, she will oversee a staff of 14 and work with 18 board members to advocate for the legal profession and help create a professional and collegial environment for members. She will work with an annual budget of $2.3 million to help promote the association’s 22 sections and 21 committees.
“I am delighted and honored to be joining the Atlanta Bar Association as its next executive director,” Beck said. “I have enjoyed working with the Atlanta Bar as a community partner, and I look forward to being an instrumental member of this well-respected Atlanta Bar team.”
Beck previously served as the executive director of Everybody Wins! Atlanta, a national non-profit organization dedicated to promoting children’s literacy in low-income public elementary schools. It is also one of the Atlanta Bar’s community service partners.
“We are very grateful for Diane’s many years of service, and we are thrilled to work with Terri as part of our team,” said Rita Sheffey, the bar’s immediate past president and chair of the Executive Director Search Committee. “We are fortunate to have recruited an excellent leader who is familiar with the Atlanta Bar ensuring a smooth transition.”
Other members of the Atlanta Bar’s Executive Director Search Committee include President Lynn M. Roberson, President-Elect Wade H. Watson III, Dawn M. Jones, Elizabeth “Liz” Price, S. Wade Malone, Hon. Melvin K. Westmoreland and Margaret “Maggie” H. Vath.
