Atlanta Youth Academy Benefit Auction to Take Place Dec. 2

Atlanta Youth Academy (AYA), an independent school in Southeast Atlanta, will host its ninth annual Benefit Auction on Sunday, Dec. 2 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Mason Murer Fine Art.

The event will include live and silent auctions of items such as fine art by local artists, jewelry, vacation-home stays, tickets to sporting and theater events, and restaurant and spa gift certificates. Every dollar raised will fund scholarships at AYA. Last year’s Benefit Auction generated more than $40,000.

AYA serves 120 students in grades kindergarten through eight and provides a superior education on par with top independent schools in a Christian environment. The school is designed for urban children whose families believe in the importance of education but do not have access, either financially or geographically, to excellent private schools. Graduates go on to top day and boarding schools in Atlanta and around the country.

“AYA is a special place,” says President Peter Rooney. “Without our school, the majority of our students would not have access to a quality education. We abide by high academic and moral standards and create life-changing opportunities for all of our students. But AYA would not exist without the support of generous donors. We rely on events like the Benefit Auction to ensure these children continue to receive the best educational experience possible.”

The Benefit Auction Committee includes AYA Foundation Trustee Chair Sivan Hines, Chandra Briggs, Beth Cheatham, Caroline Fejoku, Byrma Braham, Caitlin Goodrich, Patty Hatcher, Nancy McDonald, Molly Plyler, Scottie Schoen and Anita Thomas.

“We hope members of the Atlanta community will get an early start on their holiday shopping and purchase the wonderful items up for bid at the Benefit Auction,” says Hines. “Art lovers, sports fans, world travelers—we’ll have something for everyone!”

The event is open to the public. Mason Murer is located at 199 Armour Drive in Atlanta. Tickets are $25, include five raffle tickets, and may be purchased in advance via https://www.atlantayouthacademy.com/auction.aspx or at the door on the day of the event.
