Buckhead Physician Named a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists
Buckhead resident Julia Carper Combs, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., a physician with Piedmont OB-GYN (www.piedmont-obgyn.com), one of Atlanta’s premier obstetrics and gynecologic medical practices, has been named a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (www.acog.org). To be named a Fellow, physicians must first become certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology by passing a two-part written and oral exam, usually taken over a two-year period. Next, they must be nominated to the Congress by another Fellow. ACOG was founded in 1951 and represents about 90 percent of U.S. board-certified obstetrician-gynecologists.
Dr. Combs joined Piedmont OB-GYN in 2009. She grew up in Atlanta, graduating from The Westminster Schools and the University of Georgia. She earned her medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia, and completed her Residency at Emory University’s Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, where she served as Chief Resident during her last year of training. She lives in Buckhead and is married with a young son. http://piedmont-obgyn.com/dr-julia-combs.php
