Buckhead resident appointed to board of global Rotarian Action Group

Private Bank of Buckhead’s Brent Adams joining board of Rotarians for Family Health & AIDS Prevention; will serve as Secretary, Treasurer

Brent Adams, executive vice president and senior banking officer of Private Bank of Buckhead, has been appointed to the global board of directors of Rotarians for Family Health & AIDS Prevention (RFHA).  This Action Group is considered Rotary International’s Resource Group for Disease Prevention and HIV/AIDS. Adams, who will serve a three-year term of office, will serve as the board’s Secretary and Treasurer. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Buckhead.

RFHA (www.rffa.org) provides assistance and support to Rotary clubs and districts in planning and implementing large scale, community-based health programs, such as The Rotary Family Health Days. This high-profile health event is in its third year and is a partnership program implemented in three countries in Africa with Rotarians from 325 Rotary Clubs, the CDC, The Coca-Cola Africa Foundation and in-country governments. Free health care services are provided to the citizens at 400 sites through this event.

“Brent’s passion about HIV/AIDS, his leadership in the community and his skill sets in finance and administration are a perfect match for our needs,” says Marion Bunch, RFHA Founder and CEO. “We are thrilled to have him on board.”

Adams has overall responsibility for leading Private Bank of Buckhead’s business development activities and is responsible for leadership of its community development efforts. In addition to RFHA, Adams is an active community leader in many other ways, including serving as a member of the City of Atlanta Board of Ethics, and on the boards of Leadership Atlanta and Crime Stoppers.

“I am honored to be included on this esteemed board, and particularly to have been asked by Marion, for whom this fight is very personal and whose work has touched so many lives around the world,” Adams says. He refers to the fact that Rotarian Marion Bunch lost her son, Jerry, to AIDS in 1994.

Bunch’s work had already reached thousands of people when in 2002 then-Rotary International President Bhichai Rattakul heard her speak and requested assistance in creating a plan to help Rotary address the AIDS pandemic. While its work is international, RFHA is based in Atlanta.
