Saltyard restaurant to open in Buckhead

Saltyard to Open at The Brookwood

Local eatery will offer small plates and casual, fun environment.

Restaurant veterans Christian Favalli and Kristy Jones-Favalli are pleased to announce plans for a new restaurant, Saltyard, located in Buckhead at 1820 Peachtree Road in The Brookwood building.  Opening is anticipated for late Spring 2013.

Saltyard will serve American cuisine with international influences in a mostly small plate format.  The menu will be unpretentious and accessible - offering simple, good food at an excellent value. A carefully-edited selection of seasonal dishes will include starches, charcuterie, cheese and larders, vegetables, seafood and meats. From the bar, the domestic wine list will include 20 wines by the glass and 100 by the bottle, hand-crafted cocktails and a selection of craft beer will be offered.

The setting, designed by Square Feet Studios, will be relaxed and vibrant with plush banquettes, sun-bleached wood rafters, industrial accents and an open kitchen. Saltyard will offer private dining and a patio overlooking Peachtree Road.

Husband-wife team Favalli and Jones-Favalli developed the name and philosophy of Saltyard after researching the traditions of ancient cultures who shared salt - a rare commodity - with guests as a sign of hospitality and friendship.  Eating salt under someone’s roof created a bond between guest and host - the core element of hospitality behind the concept of Saltyard.

“Saltyard will be a true social house where guests come for dinner but stay for the spirited and engaging atmosphere,” says Favalli. “We strive to make the human connection between what is on the plate and in the glass, between the long-standing relationships between friends, farms, artisanal purveyors and our Atlanta neighbors.”

Favalli, son of La Grotta co-owner Sergio Favalli, has grown up in the restaurant business.  His experience includes managing a variety of Atlanta restaurants until taking the helm at La Grotta. He will remain an active partner at “big sister” La Grotta while assisting with the day-to-day operations at Saltyard.  Jones-Favalli is an industry veteran in her own right with nearly 15 years restaurant experience, including several years at La Grotta.

Saltyard is located at 1820 Peachtree Road, Atlanta, GA.  Hours are Monday through Thursday, 5 to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 5 - 11 p.m. and Sunday, 5 - 9 p.m.  A portion of the restaurant will be available for reservations while the remainder will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Weekend brunch will be added after opening. More information will be available at saltyardatlanta.com.
