Atlanta International School Wins Musical Theater Award

The school's production of 'Beauty and the Beast' won a Shuler Hensley Award.

The production of "Disney's Beauty and the Beast" resulted in a Best Supporting Actor award for Alec Nash, who played Cogsworth in the production.

Supported by the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre Foundation and ArtsBridge, the Shuler Hensley awards are designed to promote Georgia high school musical theater programs.

"The Shuler Hensley awards ceremony was full of celebration for us, with seniors Josh Cohen and Giselle Fernandez selected to perform in the Shuler Ensemble," said Rob Warren, the school's head of theatre.

"In addition, grade 11 student Myrtil Mitanga and grade 10 student Keanu Mitanga performed at the event in the Youth Symphony. The night was topped with Alec bringing home the award for best supporting actor, a very fitting achievement for a student who has always given 100 percent to every rehearsal and performance.

"Alec is a true ensemble member, encouraging his fellow cast members to work hard whilst never complaining during the process. We are extremely proud of his accomplishments!"
