The 12^th & Midtown development team officially announced Tuesday that Café Intermezzo will soon bring its European flair to the $2 billion mixed-use development project on the Midtown Mile.

It had been reported by several media outlets last summer that Café Intermezzo was eyeing a Midtown location. Undisclosed until Tuesday was that the new Café Intermezzo locale will replace the Brookwood location in Buckhead that has been open for almost 25 years.

The Atlanta-based European coffeehouse will close its Brookwood doors at 1845 Peachtree Road in November when it reopens at 12^th & Midtown and joins STK, Asselina Cucina, Ri Ra Irish Pub, RA Sushi, Mi Cocina and Piola at the mixed-use development. 

"Café Intermezzo has long been considered a landmark destination in Atlanta and we feel privileged to bring them to 12^th & Midtown,’’ said Shirley Gouffon, senior vice president of Selig Enterprises, in a release. “Occupying a marquis corner adjacent to Loews Atlanta Hotel, Café Intermezzo will be a dynamic and exciting addition to 12^th & Midtown."

Brian Olson opened the first Café Intermezzo in Dunwoody in 1979. The Brookwood Café Intermezzo opened its doors in December 1987 and quickly became a place where many couples enjoyed their first date in the casual environment.

Café Intermezzo offers more than 100 different tortes, tarts, cakes, pies and cheesecakes; scores of coffee beverages and other beverages with and without alcohol.
