City Council Expected to Vote on Lindbergh Redevelopment Project

Vote expected Monday, Oct. 1 on project that would include a Walmart on Lindbergh Dr.

The Atlanta City Council is expected to vote Monday on the controversial Lindbergh redevelopment project.

The council sent the proposal back to committee last month because of land use issues.

Developers want to build a mixed-use development that would include a Walmart off Lindbergh Drive near the MARTA station.

But the property is zoned for residential use, and the project has failed to move forward without a land use change.

Plans include 200,000 square feet of retail space and roughly 200 apartments.

Last week, the zoning committee amended the proposal with the condition that some of the housing planned for the property is used as affordable housing for seniors.

The council meeting is set to begin at 1 p.m. at City Hall, 55 Trinity Ave.
