Darlington Shooting Victim in Stable Condition
Although police made an arrest at the scene, the search continues for the shooting suspect.
Atlanta Police responded to a shooting on July 7 at 11 a.m. at the Darlington Apartments, 2025 Peachtree St. Upon arrival officers found the 31 year old male victim with a gunshot wound to his leg.
According to Atlanta police spokesman Officer John Chafee, the victim said he came to the Darlington Apartments to sell a firearm. While waiting for the buyer to arrive, he was reportedly approached by an unknown male armed with a handgun.
The suspect then shot the victim once in the leg. The victim ran from the location, Chafee said, and apparently dropped his bag that contained two handguns.
Officers checked the area but did not locate the shooting suspect. Zone 2 Commander Maj. Van Hobbs told the AJC that police did find another person matching the description of the suspect at the scene, though, who was questioned and arrested on outstanding warrants. It is unclear what charges he faces.
The victim was transported to Grady Hospital in stable condition.
Police are continuing the investigation.
