Ground Broken for Little Nancy Creek Playground

City Councilman Howard Shook on hand to celebrate landmark

The Friends of in Buckhead recently held a ground-breaking ceremony for the park's "state of the art" playground.

A totl of 50 people attended the event, according to a spokesperson for the group. North Buckhead Civic Association President Gordon Certain and District 7 City Councilman Howard Shook, who played pivotal roles in the park's formation, were the "official groundbreakers."

The playground at the 5-acre park at Peachtree-Dunwoody Road at Winall Down will be opened Dec. 11, with a ceremony from 2 to 5 p.m. The event will also showcase the site of a butterfly garden to be built by kindergarten students in spring 2012.
