Author to Discuss Eudora Welty's Garden

Lecture Wednesday at Atlanta History Center benefits Cherokee Garden Library.

Garden designer and preservationist Susan Haltom will launch the Atlanta History Center's spring lecture series with a discussion of her new book, "One Writer’s Garden: Eudora Welty’s Home Place."

Haltom, preservation and maintenance coordinator of the Eudora Welty garden in Jackson, Miss., will speak at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the museum's Kenan Research Center. The garden designer helped the famed Mississippi writer in the restoration of her mother's garden, according to a news release.

Following the lecture,  a book signing and reception will be held. The special evening is a fund-raising event for the history center's Cherokee Garden Library Endowment.
