Buckhead representative calls on Democrats to accept new political boundaries
From Patch Reports
Buckhead State Rep. Edward Lindsey, the Republican House majority whip, said in a statement that he is pleased with the . Here is Lindsey's statement:
"I am pleased — but not surprised — that the Obama Justice Department has pre-cleared the Georgia redistricting plans for the Georgia House, Georgia Senate, and the Georgia congressional delegation. The Georgia redistricting process was an open and exhaustive effort by the Georgia General Assembly which resulted in constitutional, legal, and fair political maps that reflect Georgia’s present and will enable us to chart our state’s future.
I trust that the Democratic Party of Georgia will respect the conclusions of President Obama’s Administration and not pursue any further fruitless and meritless partisan attacks on our redistricting plans. We need to put this political process behind us and now focus together on the substantive challenges that face the people that elected us. "
Representative Edward Lindsey (R-Atlanta)
