Most Buckhead Schools Meet AYP Standards
North Atlanta, Garden Hills fall below academic performance mark; Sutton, other elementaries achieve grade
All of Buckhead's APS schools except North Atlanta High and Garden Hills Elementary met Annual Yearly Progress standards, the state Department of Education announced.
North Atlanta and Garden Hills fell below academic performance expectations under the AYP formula, which measures progress under the No Child Left Behind Act. The academic performance figures were basd on Criterion Referenced Competency Tests results for 2011.
The two schools met the test participation mark, along with a second indicator. North Atlanta achieved the graduation rate goal, while Garden Hills, which has a large number of Latino students, was evaluated on attendance.
Sutton Middle School and Warren T. Jackson, Sarah Smith, E. Rivers and Morris Brandon elementaries met all three AYP standards, the report said.
