NPU OKs New Restaurant for Johnny Rockets' Site

Lime Fresh, opening in October, to serve Tex-Mex fare

The West Paces Ferry Road , a Buckhead fixture for years, soon will join the list of vanished restaurants.

NPU-B's Public Safety Committee and then the full NPU Tuesday night approved an application for Lime Fresh, a Tex-Mex concept, to take over Johnny Rockets' space at 5 W. Paces Ferry Road, just off Peachtree.

Lime Fresh is owned by Ruby Tuesday's, which in December changed its longtime space at 3345 Lenox Road to the new, more upscale Truffles Grill. The NPU and its Public Safety Committee also took action in regard to Truffles, approving Ruby Tuesday regional Vice President Andrew Leonard Jr.'s change of agent application to manage the restaurant and control its liquor license.

At the meeting, Leonard said he will manage Truffles and Lime Fresh, which opens in October.

Lime Fresh, described as a “fast casual concept,” will shift the mix at the location from burgers, fries and shakes to burritos, tacos,  margaritas, and beer and wine.

The  committee also heard 790 the Zone’s plans for a Georgia-Florida football game viewing party Oct. 28 in the parking lot of the Ivy bar at 3717 Roswell Road. The event begins at 3 p.m., with a large-screen TV set up in the parking lot behind the bar, and a band performing from 7 to 11 p.m. when the game is over, said Cody Hicks of the sports talk radio station.

Hicks said that four off-duty police officers will be on duty at the event, two at the door checking i.d.’s and two providing traffic control. Parking will be at a carwash next door and the shopping center across the street, Hicks said. He appeared at the meeting to give information about the event to the NPU, which lacks the authority to approve or oppose such gatherings.
