A Computer, Robotics Whiz
Westminster's Lilly Chin, honored for second straight year by the National Center for Women & Information Technology Coalition, also finds time for orchestra, WCAT

student Lilly Chin is one of 20 young women in Georgia to receive the Aspirations in Computing Award from the National Center for Women & Information Technology Coalition, the school announced.
The junior received the same award last year, when she was also named national runner-up.

Chin was nominated by Westminster physics teacher and robotics coach Valerie Bennett, who notes that Chin has been recognized not only for her programming abilities, but her leadership in and outside the classroom.
“Lillie is our team leader for programming of our robot," Bennett said in the announcement. "She demonstrates incredible skill, creativity, and ingenuity when solving many of the programming challenges we face. In order for our robot to have a strong competitive edge, not only must it be built robustly and with efficiency; our programming must be equally substantive and innovative.”

She and the other Georgia winners will be celebrated in February at a daylong event to include workshops and research talks, the announcement said.
Chin is involved in a numvee of extracurricular activities at Westminster, including videographer for the school's student-run TV station WCAT, orchestra treasurer, and Science Olympiad.
