I did this a few years ago and it was fun and educational. You meet some great people, learn about police procedures, try to solve a crime (a past crime), shoot some range pistols if you like and you even get a cool shirt that makes people think you're a cop. But don't push that or you may end up in jail academy.

I too went thru the Citizen's Police Academy with the highlights for me being able to control the robot that picks up "suspicious packages" and places them in the detonation chamber and doing ride-alongs with actual patrolling officers. The world looks a lot different when seen thru the windshield of a patrol car. It also dispels the notion that all crime labs look like the CSI tv versions - ours is far from that tv depiction The tour of our 911 call center is a great eye-opener too..

I graduated from the Citizen's Police Academy in June at City Hall. The classes were very educational. I met some great people as well. I've signed up for the Fulton County Citizen's Court Watch Program this month. Then maybe the Citizen's Fire Academy later this year. AND IT'S ALL FREE!
