Atlanta, GA, Jan. 22, 2014 - North Atlanta men’s lacrosse is stepping up their game with the
addition of four new lacrosse coaches. Greg Kacinko, Kevin McCue, Matthew Bazar
and Brown McMurray join NAHS offensive coach Will James to lead the Varsity and
JV Warrior teams. They are currently seeking additional coaches for the feeder
program at Sutton Middle School.
Greg Kacinko serves as the Warrior’s head coach. He is a former offensive coach at Milton High School, where his team made two state championship and four playoff appearances, garnering two state titles. Kacinko was a four year starter at Chattahoochee High School, and a team captain his junior and senior year. He went on to play Division II lacrosse at Limestone College as a midfielder, making the Deep South All Tournament Team his sophomore year and was elected captain as a senior. Kacinko manages the Doublestixx summer lacrosse league in Atlanta and serves as an operations supervisor at UPS.
Kevin McCue has been a part of the Georgia lacrosse community since 2001. He has coached at the JV and Varsity level at Chattahoochee High School and most recently Lambert High School where he was a varsity assistant and oversaw their goalie program. McCue was part of the coaching staff that took the Longhorns to three state championships, winning two. He also coached them to one final four appearance. McCue is employed by ADP as a district manager for the SBS division.
“Kevin and I have talked lacrosse every day since we played together at Chattahoochee High School,” said Greg Kacinko. “The opportunity to coach together at a strong and growing program was a dream come true. We are thrilled to help strenghthen the North Atlanta program.”
The Warrior Varsity
Matthew Bazar joins the Varsity squad as an assistant defensive coach, replacing Patrick Cheney who has moved to Connecticut. Bazar played on the state championship Christian Brothers High School team in Memphis, TN. He was named to the Tennessee All-State team in both 1997 and 1998. He went on to play for the Auburn University Tigers garnering the SELC Championship title his junior and senior years. Bazar was named SELC defensive player of the year in 2002, and to the SELC All Conference team in 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002. In addition, he was named an MCLA All-American for three years. Bazar is a consultant with Turner Broadcasting and lives with his wife Carrie in East Atlanta Village.
Will James has been with the Warrior staff since 2012. He started his lacrosse career at Bellaire High School in Houston, TX and continued playing attack for Texas A&M University. As an All-American, he led Texas A&M lacrosse to a conference and national championship berth his senior year. James has a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech and works for PAR Systems, Inc.
Brown McMurray will serve as the head coach of the JV Warrior program with assistance from the varsity coaches. McMurray started playing lacrosse in 6th grade, serving as captain for both the Junior Varity and Varsity teams at Providence High School in Charlotte, NC, and taking his team to the state playoffs his senior year. McMurray is a financial analyst for Global Payments in Atlanta.
