The Stonewall Democrats officially endorsed Andre Dickens for the Post 3 At Large City Council seat, praising Dickens’ work in the areas of diversity and his ability to bring people from various backgrounds together to create progress. Georgia Equality, the largest LGBT advocacy group in the state, also rated Dickens “favorably.”
Dickens cites both favorable ratings as evidence of his campaign's increasing grassroots momentum. As a first time candidate, he also asserts that his commitment to ethics, transparency and inclusiveness in local government has been well-received by citizens who are primed for change.
In a statement, Georgia Stonewall said,
“It is rare that organizations such as Georgia Stonewall endorse a challenger, and
we do not take this endorsement lightly. Andre is
a breath of fresh air to Atlanta City Council politics. With a strong sense of
integrity, a full grasp of what it means to be ethical and open in all matters
both personal and public, and a genuine desire to improve the lives of everyone
in our city, Andre Dickens has duly earned the endorsement of Georgia Stonewall
“I’m pleased that our message is resonating so strongly with citizens from all across the city,” Dickens said. “If elected to the Post 3 At-large seat, I will advocate for equal treatment under the law for all Atlantans, no matter their race or ethnicity, current economic status, or who they love.”
