Gas South and Action Ministries Pack 1,000 Summer Lunches

On Wednesday, July 17, Gas South packed 500 sack lunches for children as part of Action Ministries’ Smart Lunch, Smart Kid program, and will pack 500 more before the summer is over.

Gas South employees and their families held the lunch-packing session at the company’s offices on Cumberland Blvd., where they prepared 500 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and healthy snacks. Later this month, team members at Gas South’s call center will pack 500 more lunches, reaching the company’s goal of feeding 1,000 children in July.

Every day, more than 400,000 schoolchildren in metro Atlanta qualify for a free or reduced-price lunch. With school out for the summer, many of these kids are at risk of going hungry. Action Ministries, with help from volunteers like Gas South, is working to address this critical problem.
