Pro-Mozart Atlanta holiday fete to honor Georgia Boy Choir, Woodruff Arts Center

The Pro-Mozart Society of Atlanta holds 29th annual Holiday Gala Saturday, December 7, honoring Georgia Boy Choir conductor and the Woodruff Arts Center; the event raises funds for the organization’s annual scholarship.

The Pro-Mozart Society of Atlanta (www.MozartAtlanta.com) invites anyone interested in classical music – and, particularly, the works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – to its 29th Holiday Gala, Saturday, December 7, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. The black-tie-optional fundraising event, which supports the organization’s scholarship fund, includes a sit-down dinner, a live concert and a silent auction.

In addition to raising scholarship funds, this year’s event will also honor David White, Artistic Director and Conductor of the Georgia Boy Choir (www.GeorgiaBoyChoir.org), for his contributions to classical music. The Georgia Boy Choir will provide the evening’s entertainment, singing songs of the season, including, of course, a little Mozart.

“I am humbled to be part of Pro-Mozart Atlanta’s Holiday Gala, and especially pleased to shine a light on the Georgia Boy Choir and its members,” says David White, Artistic Director and Conductor of that organization. “In a sense, our Choir and Pro-Mozart share the same goals – not only cultivating musical excellence, but at the same time helping establish and foster a life-long love of music. I look forward to a wonderful evening.”

The Honorary Chair of Saturday’s event is the Woodruff Arts Center (www.WoodruffCenter.org), which will be represented for the evening by Virginia Hepner, its President & CEO. Plus, a Special Guest will be WABE’s Lois Reitzes; WABE (www.wabe.org) is of course Atlanta’s NPR Station.

“I appreciate Pro-Mozart Atlanta’s recognition of the Woodruff Arts Center, and the many things it represents to our community, including access to the arts and arts education,” says Virginia Hepner, the Woodruff’s President & CEO. “As one of the nation’s largest arts institutions, we appreciate the work of other community organizations who also recognize the importance of the arts in our lives.”

Pro-Mozart Atlanta President Kevin Pritchett says, “we are excited to again gather for the Holiday Gala, with both long-time members and new friends. It’s a wonderful opportunity – in addition to raising funds for our unprecedented scholarship – to honor people and organizations who contribute to our city, state and region’s musical landscape. I am grateful that the Georgia Boy Choir’s David White and the Woodruff Arts Center are allowing us to honor them in this small way. And to have a special guest like Lois Reitzes join us for the evening rounds things out so well.”

To purchase tickets for the gala, visit www.MozartAtlanta.com; you do not have to be a Pro-Mozart member to purchase tickets or attend the event, but you will be asked to register on the Web site in order to complete a secure ticket purchase transaction.

Member tickets are $125 each, and non-member tickets are $145 each. Parents of Georgia Boy Choir members will receive the member ticket price.
In addition to holding at least five concerts annually, Pro-Mozart Atlanta helps classical musicians improve their skills by providing scholarships. The organization’s scholarships are awarded to talented and deserving classical musicians who might otherwise not have the means or the opportunity to study with the exceptional instructors that are available at the prestigious Mozarteum Academy in Salzburg, Austria.
