The Buckhead Heritage Society will celebrate 175 years with an exhibit and large-scale event held at the Buckhead Theatre on Friday night.
Buckhead Heritage Society’s 175th Anniversary Celebration, “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow,” will have some 400 attendants who will be able to nosh on food from some of Buckhead’s best restaurants while enjoying live music.
The event, which lasts from 7 to 11 p.m., is being co-sponsored by the Buckhead Business Association. Two of Buckhead’s legendary leaders– former Atlanta Mayor Sam Massell and Aaron’s founder and Buckhead Theatre owner Charlie Loudermilk– will be honored on Friday night.
The organization compiled photos from various public institutions to create the “Buckhead: Our Story” exhibit, which will be displayed on Friday night. The exhibit traces the community’s history from its beginnings as a crossroads community in 1838 to its post-WWII growth and annexation by the city of Atlanta in 1952.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Buckhead Heritage and the creation of a Master History Plan for the community that will map out how to integrate historic sites and stories into the Buckhead Collection—a system of new parks, trails, and green spaces envisioned for the community and spearheaded by Livable Buckhead, Inc.
Tickets to the 175the Anniversary event at the Buckhead Theatre are $150 each for Buckhead Heritage or Buckhead Business Association members. Tickets are $175 for non-members.
