Child in T-Shirt Asked to Leave Buckhead Restaurant

According to the hostess and her manager, the child did not adhere to the "Gentlemen's Dress Code."

A four-year-old child wearing a sleeveless Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles t-shirt was asked to leave an upscale Phipps Plaza restaurant after his parents were told his attire did not meet the dress code, according to an Atlanta Business Chronicle report.

The boy's parents attempted to convince the hostess and the manager of The Tavern at Phipps that the child was too young to fall under the jurisdiction of the "Gentlemen's Dress Code," but both employees insisted the family leave.

After the family reported the embarrassing incident to 11 Alive News, a spokeswoman for The Tavern at Phipps issued a statement apologizing for the "embarrassing misunderstanding," and clarified that the dress code does not apply to children. The spokeswoman said the restaurant will reach out to the family, and the family has accepted the restaurant's apology.
