GA-400, Howell Mill Road Reopen After Suspicious Packages Investigated

Two suspicious packages had traffic at a standstill in Buckhead this morning.

Two Friday suspicious packages in separate Buckhead locations turn out to be harmless.

On Friday morning around 8:15, the intersection of Howell Mill and Collier roads was shut down for about two hours due to a report of a suspicious package, a black backpack found near the swings at Ellsworth Park. Police investigated the package and found it was full of stuffed animals, according to a report from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The intersection was reopened around 10:15 a.m.

Then, around 11:30 a.m., another suspicious package was reported at the GA-400 toll plaza, shutting down all lanes southbound of the plaza.

Police reopened the lanes around 12:15 p.m.
