MLK Weekend Offers Opportunities to Learn, Volunteer
There are many ways to honor the memory of Dr. King. Here are some suggestions.

During the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service volunteers will be landscaping the Mill Trail located on a steep hillside with rock outcroppings and high overlooks. Work will consist of installing erosion control devices, removing ivy, installing stones stairs, building trail and filling it with dirt, planting native plants on hillside and installing fencing along the trail.

Hands on Atlanta Day of Service
Hands on Atlanta is coordinating service projects across the Atlanta area in honor of Dr. King's call that "Everybody can be great...because everybody can serve." Check the Hands on Atlanta website for projects that fit your interests and your schedule this weekend.
Buckhead opportunities: Hospitality volunteers are needed for the Piedmont Road Senior High Rise, the Cheshire Bridge Senior High Rise, the Blue Heron Nature Preserve, the Peachtree Road senior high rise and at the Peachtree Hills Park on MLK Day from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Hospitality volunteers
assist with volunteer registration, hand out refreshments, help volunteers navigate the venue, take pictures and collect volunteer feedback surveys.

Events include the the Martin Luther King, Jr. Annual Commemorative Service
at Ebenezer Baptist Church on Monday morning and a march on Auburn Avenue.
Join a Family-Friendly MLK Project Saturday in Kirkwood
The Kirkwood Neighbors Organization's Martin Luther King Day service project for 2013 will be the planting of 500 one-gallon trees in Kirkwood Urban Forest Park on Saturday, Jan. 19.
