North Buckhead Development Process Underway

The association hopes to complete a long-term master plan for North Buckhead by the end of 2014.

The North Buckhead Civic Association has begun its community planning process with an eye on a December completion date, Reporter Newspapers says.

The association's first meeting to discuss a long-term master plan for the area was held on July 15 at St. James United Methodist Church and saw some 60 people attend.

According to the Civic Association's website, online polling conducted in October 2013 revealed the main areas of concern for North Buckhead residents. These concerns, including traffic congestion, pedestrian access to parks, and speeding motorists, were passed along to City of Atlanta representatives in May of this year.

Ideally, the master planning process will be completed by December so city authorities can adopt it early in 2015, a consultant told Reporter Newspapers.

The next opportunity North Buckhead residents have to get involved in the master planning process will be an Aug. 16 community workshop to be held at Sarah Smith Elementary School from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
