Rain May Ruin Saturday's Outdoor Activities

The last time we had rain it never seemed to go away, but this time the sky should clear after just one day of possible wet weather.

A 40 percent chance of rain is forecast tonight, mainly after 3 a.m. Saturday. It will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 42 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

On Saturday, the chance of precipitation is 100 percent, with the rain expected to fall mainly before 5 p.m. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch will be possible.

Lovett School and all the other state football title hopefuls can be glad they are playing in the Georgia Dome and not outside. The east wind of 5-10 mph that will shift to southwest in the afternoon shouldn't have any affect on the kicking or passing games of the teams, either. The high will be near 53.

Saturday night will be mostly cloudy. The chance for rain will drop to 30 percent, and that will be mainly before 9 p.m. As the clouds decrease, the winds will rise. A light northwest wind will increase to 10-15 mph in the evening, accompanied by gusts as high as 20 mph.

Sunday will be partly sunny, still windy and with a high near 48. Sunday night will be mostly clear as the temperature drops to around 28. The northwest wind of 5-10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph, will make it feel even chillier.
