Recycle Christmas Trees at Buckhead Home Depot

Don't throw away your Christmas tree! Put it to good use.

Keep Atlanta Beautiful is helping Atlanta residents recycle their old Christmas trees during its annual "Bring One for the Chipper" event.

From now until Jan. 12, bring your old Christmas trees to The Home Depot location in Buckhead at 2525 Piedmont Road NE to be recycled. Up until Jan. 11, The Home Depot  in Midtown at 650 Ponce de Leon will also accept Christmas trees.

Keep Atlanta Beautiful will have staff members and members of Boy Scout troop 298 standing by on Chipper Day on Jan. 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Residents who are provided trash/recycling services by the city can put their trees out with their trash/recycling containers.

"Bring One for the Chipper" is a statewide treecycling event, hosted by Keep Georgia Beautiful and its partner organizations. According to its website, Keep Georgia Beautiful has recycled 5.9 million Christmas trees since the inception of "Bring One for the Chipper."

The recycled trees can be used for mulch, fuel, fish habitats and more. The mulch from these trees has been used for playgrounds, local government beautification projects and in individual yards.

So glad that the city keeps doing this. Wood chips are excellent for ecolandscaping.
