Veterans Day Events in and around Buckhead
This year, Veterans Day falls on a Sunday.
On Veterans Day, Americans take this time to recognize the military service and in some cases, the lives, that soldiers have given for their freedom. Here are ways to celebrate in Buckhead and in nearby communities this weekend.
Saturday
- The 30th Annual Georgia Veterans Day Parade will be held on Peachtree Street south of Ralph McGill/Ivan Allen Blvd. in downtown Atlanta at 11:11 a.m. The parade proceeds Peachtree and turns right on Baker Street, continuing around Centennial Olympic Park.
Sunday
- Signature HealthCARE of Buckhead will honor its veterans on Sunday during a ceremony at 2:30 p.m.
- SportClips locations from around the country have been raising funds as part of its sixth annual “Help A Hero” fundraising campaign, benefiting the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ (VFW) Operation Uplink. They are hoping to raise $500,000 this year. Sunday will be “The Biggest Haircut Day of the Year,” when SportClips donates a dollar to the program from every haircut.
- Atlanta Veterans Day Run will take place at Piedmont Park.
