Get a great start on design plans for your own home by taking part in the 42nd Annual Cathedral Antiques Show or the Decatur Old House Fair this weekend.

Al Gore will be in Atlanta for a lecture and book signing in support of his new release, The Future: Six Drivers of Global Change. GreenLaw is co-hosting the event along with the A Cappella Books and the Sierra Club.

42nd annual Cathedral Antiques Show

More than two dozen carefully selected dealers of period furniture, jewelry, art, and accessories ranging from 17th-century antiques to iconic mid-century modern pieces are gathered under one roof.  Find that perfect piece, begin a collection, or simply enjoy browsing.  While you're at the show, enjoy Miles Redd's talk & book signing, tour the Inspiration House, and visit the on-site appraisals room.

Where: The Cathedral of St Philip Episcopal, 2744 Peachtree Rd NW, Atlanta

When: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Decatur Old House Fair

The Fifth Annual Old House Fair is an all-day showcase of seminars, exhibitors, and hands-on-workshops for old-house owners. This year fair organizers will be building on a portfolio of seminars to include waterproofing basements, fireplace restoration, historic tree care, and tax incentive programs for historic houses.

Where: 130 Clairemont Ave, Decatur, GA 30030 (Decatur Courtyard Marriott Hotel and Conference Center)

When: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

We're Not Broke movie screening/discussion

WE’RE NOT BROKE tells the story of U.S. corporations dodging billions of dollars in income tax, and how seven fed-up Americans take their frustration to the streets… and vow to make the corporations pay their fair share." MoveOn Atlanta will be hosting a showing of this film in the North Avenue room of Manuel's Tavern to be followed with a Q&A discussion with one of the film's producers, Vicky Bruce, via Skype.

First Place Passion Tour

Part of the 42nd annual Cathedral Antiques Show, the First Place Passion Home Tour will feature seven homes showcasing the design creativity and passion of first-time homeowners in the family-friendly Meadowbrook neighborhood. These stylish homes prove that antiques don't have to be stuffy and bold design can happen in intimate spaces.

When: 1-4 p.m.

Cost: $20 benefits Refugee Family Services; This ticket includes admission to the 2013 Inspiration House
