Winter Storm Cancels MARTA Buses, Rail on Weekend Schedule
MARTA buses will not run on Wednesday, and the Atlanta area's rail system will operate on weekend hours.
With the threat of icy road conditions in metro Atlanta, MARTA plans to cancel all bus and Mobility (paratransit) service on Wednesday, while the rail system will operate on a weekend schedule.
Rail service will begin at 4:35 a.m. Wednesday, with trains running about every 15 minutes on all lines until about 2 a.m. on Thursday. MARTA is asking rail customers to be patient and plan extra time for their trips. Depending on weather conditions, MARTA’s rail schedule is also subject to change.
“Safety will always be our first and foremost priority,” said Keith T. Parker, MARTA’s GM/CEO. “Until weather conditions improve, we’ll continue to provide as much rail service as we possibly can and restore bus and Mobility service as soon as it’s feasible.”

MARTA’s decision to cancel bus service came after Gov. Nathan Deal instructed most vehicles to stay off the highways so salt and sand trucks can treat roadways.
Although MARTA buses will not be operating on their regular routes, some will be used as warming stations for motorists, truckers and others.
