Comedian George Wallace to Headline Atlanta Childhood Obesity Benefit

Event set for October 19 at the Buckhead Theater

Atlanta native and comedian George Wallace will headline the 10-year anniversary fundraiser for The Center Helping Obesity In Children End Successfully next month.

The event is set for Friday, Oct. 19 at 7p.m. at The Buckhead Theater, 3110 Roswell Road NW.

"We invite the entire metro Atlanta community to join us in celebrating our 10th anniversary", said Vanetta Keyes, Founder and Executive Director of the organization. "We wanted to make Twilight on Childhood Obesity an extra special event this year. We are fortunate that Mr. Wallace has agreed to join us in this journey to end childhood obesity"

The Center Helping Obesity In Children End Successfully is a nonprofit organization formed in 2002 to fight the epidemic of childhood obesity.

There are an estimated ten million obese and overweight American kids. Georgia is ranked 3rd in the nation for childhood obesity.

Dubbed "Mr. Las Vegas" by The Las Vegas Review-Journal, Wallace has starred on the House of Payne, Jerry Seinfield and The Parkers television shows, and is now a stand-up comedian that entertains for audiences from all over the world. He has headlined a nightly stand-up comedy show for the past six years at the famous Flamingo Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

"Atlanta is my home," he said in an announcement. "As a youngster I sold papers on the corner there. I came here (to Las Vegas) for 30 days, 60 days, 90 days and now I'm in my 9th year."

Tickets are $75 for general admission and $150 for VIP and can be purchased online at www.choicesforkids.org. In addition to the performance there will be a VIP Reception, after party and silent auction.

Funds raised will help offer after-school programs and open a programming facility in the City of Atlanta.
