Buckhead Christian Ministry’s Thrift Store in Critical Need of Clothing

Demand exceeds donations, leaving shelves empty at local thrift store

Atlanta, GA (September 2012): Clothing donation bins are empty at Buckhead THRIFTique, meaning hundreds of local families that rely on the thrift store for free or affordable clothes are ill-prepared for the approaching cold weather.

Buckhead THRIFTique, a boutique-style thrift store that provides free clothing to people in need and sells affordable clothing and household items, is in critical need of donations. As an arm of Buckhead Christian Ministry (BCM), the store distributed over $110,000 worth of free clothes last year to people of all faiths and Robyn Hazelrigs, store manager, has seen an increased demand for clothing this year.

“We need donations immediately in order to continue our mission. Buckhead THRIFTique relies on the kindness of our community to clean out their closets and bring us women’s, children’s and men’s clothing. The need is so great, but the smiles are priceless when we give a child a winter coat, or a woman a suit to interview in, or a man an outfit to attend church in,” said Hazelrigs.

The store is also a hot spot for finding great deals on designer brands such as Ralph Lauren, Gucci, Talbots, Trina Turk, Chico’s, St. John and Free People. “People like to donate their high-end items here because they know we understand the value of these special pieces. Our great mix of merchandise enables us to give clothes away and earn the money needed to keep the store open,” says Dudley Franklin, BCM Development Director.
