Barberitos Southwestern Grill Opening in Buckhead

Athens-based Barberitos Southwestern Grill & Cantina is opening a Buckhead location in The Peach shopping center, 2900 Peachtree Road, in early July.

Buckhead View is reporting that this will be Barberitos first location in Buckhead and that it will be located right across from the flagship location of one of its toughest competitors — Atlanta-based . The new restaurant, on the south end of The Peach, takes up about two-thirds of the space formerly occupied by RBC Centura bank.

According to a city of Atlanta building permit, an estimated $137,000 will be spent to convert the retail space into a 2,099 square foot restaurant.

Barberitos owner Jim Purcell said the restaurant will have indoor seating for 60-plus and seating for 10-12 or so outside at tables with umbrellas.

Foodies in Buckhead are likely excited, as this news comes on the heels of Southern restaurant opening on 1820 Peachtree Road on May 24.

Since Barberitos has been operating in Athens for 12 years, Purcell said, “I understand there are a lot of UGA grads in the Buckhead area with their mouths watering in anticipation of our opening.”
