In May, a half-dozen leaders from the Buckhead Coalition membership traveled to Bermuda on the inaugural flight by AirTran Airways to initiate the partnership. An official proclamation in Bermuda heralded the communities' similar services and facilities, such as shopping, dining, golfing and visiting, plus the comparable geographical and population sizes.

Buckhead Coalition President Sam Massell said in an announcement that “A trade mission like this is a generator of development.” He added, “Our nonprofit organization doesn’t have grant money or other material incentives, but we strive to build a brand that makes Buckhead the ‘address of choice’ for businesses and individuals … and it works.”
