For Buckhead Chef Linton Hopkins, the fifth time is the charm. Hopkins and Hugh Acheson of in Athens tied for the James Beard Award for Best Chef in the Southeast, which was announced on Monday night.
Hopkins, who owns and Public House, that being a five time nominee of what is considered the "Oscars of food" was already a reward in itself.
“I like that I’m still getting nominated and still relevant in my category of top chef in the region,” he said.
Hopkins and Acheson won in the category that includes chefs in Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia. While the award is the first for Hopkins, Acheson has received the award once before.
The Beard Awards were presented at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City.
