Vacant Borders Buckhead Site Undergoing Renovation Work

Container Store reportedly to move into Buckhead Triangle location

Workers are busy with interior demolition work at the old Borders bookstore site at the Buckhead Triangle, 3637 Peachtree Road.

A spokesman at the site said the plans to move to the location from 3255 Peachtree, the corner of Piedmont Road. He said Container Store plans to sublease the back of the property to another business, not yet determined. A notice on the door said a building permit was issued for the work in late February.

The Container Store will move to the Buckhead Triangle site in the fall, a spokesperson for the company said late Thursday.

"We are planning to move our beloved Buckhead store to better serve our customers," said Casey Shilling, vicce president of marketing and communications in the company's Dallas office.

The work supervisor at the site said the Container Store will use the upstairs part of the retail area, as well as a portion of the bottom level, with the other business subleasing the back part of the lower level. He said a new escalator as well as two elevators are being installed at the former bookstore property.

He said he expects his crew's work to be finished by May, and then the Container Store will come in and do additional preparation. It could be September before the store is ready to open, he said.
