Buckhead Blimpie Closes Down

Wings 101 may replace the sub shop, although a stop work order was recently issued.

Buckhead residents now have one less sandwich shop to choose from, as on Sidney Marcus Boulevard and Piedmont Road has closed its doors.

Tomorrow's News Today reported that the wing joint Wings 101 was set to move into the spot but that a stop work order has been issued citing insufficient permits.

Blimpie, which is part of the Kahala Corporation, has seen more and more of its stores close down in a market that seems dominated by Subway and several other up and coming sandwich franchises.

A recent logo redesign for the chain was an apparent attempt to stay relevant in a sub saturated market, although the new look was met with little fanfare.

Blimpie has a long history as a company, with its first location opening in Hoboken, N.J. in 1964.
