Buckhead Coalition, 5 Atlanta Mayors Thank NYSE Purchaser

Jeff Sprecher's comment that he finds "Atlanta a great place to run a global business" gets praise from Sam Massell, others.

Atlanta’s nonprofit Buckhead Coalition has singled out the recent New York Stock Exchange purchaser, Jeff Sprecher, for establishing an economic benchmark of everlasting financial value.  He is credited with saying, “I find Atlanta a great place to run a global business”.

Extracting this 11-word comment from pages of recent news media interviews, Coalition president Sam Massell – a former Atlanta Mayor – obtained the signatures of all four of this City’s other living mayors complimenting Sprecher on this historic statement.

Massell reasoned that a significant statement from a significant source is the way legacies are created, and this certainly meets the criteria of such a formula.  He pointed with pride to such other illustrations as “Atlanta’s too busy to hate” by then Mayor William B. Hartsfield, and “I have a dream” by The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
