Buckhead Coalition Dedicates Buck Statue

The "Buckhead Boy" is part of the ongoing "Bucks on the Streets" project.

Beginning its celebration of twenty-five years of public service, the dedicated a buck statue, affectionally called "Buckhead Boy." The statue is part of the current "."

The late James Dickey, National Poet Laureate, made the “Buckhead Boy” famous with his work entitled “Looking For the Buckhead Boys”, which is annually memorialized by friends and graduates of the former North Fulton High School. 

Davis, a nationally recognized cartoonist from Athens, has long been the official artist for the North Fulton alumni group, and lent his design to the for their program to generate funds to help develop a Buckhead public trailway under the GA-400 toll way.

This has produced a dozen likenesses of Davis’ buck, with the Coalition naming its The Buckhead Boy.  The present location is in front of the Tower Place 100 Building at 3340 Peachtree Road, in north Atlanta. 

Coalition president Sam Massell has suggested organizations create contests to locate all twelve for awards.  His association will give a complimentary copy of its Buckhead Guidebook to each person who comes to its office with a correct list of the dozen locations.
