Burger 21 Plans New Buckhead Restaurant

This new burger joint is anything but a traditional burger joint.

A Florida-based fast food restaurant is looking to open a Buckhead franchise by the second quarter of 2015, The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

Burger 21, based out of Tampa, is a "fast casual" restaurant - think Zaxby's or Jersey Mike's. The chain has already opened a restaurant near the Mall of Georgia in Buford, and plans to expand beyond Buckhead to North Druid Hills and the Cumberland Mall area.

Patrons of Burger 21 don't just get a cheeseburger and fries with their order. Burger 21 offers alcoholic beverages and specialty burgers such as the Tex-Mex Haystack, which puts applewood smoked bacon, guacamole, jalapeno sauce, and Gouda cheese between two toasted brioche buns.

Burger 21 doesn't stick only to beef burgers, either. Lovers of chicken, seafood, turkey, and vegetables can satisfy their appetite with a sandwich at the restaurant.

According to a release from Burger 21 posted on Buckhead Patch last week, the company is hosting an information webinar on Thursday, July 17 at 2 p.m. for people interested in becoming a Burger 21 franchisee.

Fast casual restaurants like Burger 21 are taking a bite out of traditional fast food restaurants like McDonalds and Burger King, Technomic reports.

The latest estimate by the restaurant tracking group claims that Burger 21 and its contemporaries had 11 percent sales growth in 2013, compared to 3.5 percent gains for limited-service restaurants like Chick-Fil-A or Chipotle.
