The move will likely create 200 new jobs.

Carter’s, Inc., the country’s largest branded marketer of apparel exclusively for babies and young children, is closing up its Midtown-based operations and moving its headquarters to Buckhead.

In October, the company announced plans to consolidate its retail store and financial operations currently managed in its Shelton, Conn., facility with the company’s Midtown center at 1170 Peachtree Street in The Proscenium building.

Carter's will terminate its lease there on Dec. 31 and move into 222,730 square feet of space in the 20-story Phipps Tower in 2013, according to a report from the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
