OliverMcMillan billboard promotes development

Developer puts up sign on East Paces Ferry and Peachtree

San Diego developer OliverMcMillan has put up a billboard at East Paces Ferry and Peachtree Road promoting its Buckhead Atlanta development.

The company purchased the former "Streets of Buckhead" project from Atlanta developer Ben Carter, who was unable to receive sufficient financing to complete the project. OliverMcMillan, which is upgrading plans for the development, plans to begin its work later this year.

The billboard faces north from a building on East Paces Ferry, greeting drivers traveling on Peachtree from the traditional heart of Buckhead, where Roswell Road and Peachtree split.

Buckhead Patch, noting a perceived lack of enthusiasm for the Buckhead Atlanta name chosen by OliverMcMillan, recently asked readers to submit alternatives. That has generated quite a few responses on Facebook, in Comments and in e-mail. We will compile some of the names in a forthcoming article.

Meanwhile, the recently completed sidewalk on Peachtree Road from Buckhead Avenue to East Paces Ferry besides the Buckhead Atlanta project is strewn with gravel from the planters along Peachtree. Weeds have also grown up near the road.
