Open & Shut Buckhead: Pella Closing after 37 Years; OMEGA Celebrates New Store Opening; Renovated Dunkin' Donuts Opens

After 37 years, Pella is closing its doors at its Shops Around Lenox location in Buckhead at the end of February.

Most of the items in the women's wear retailer are now 50 percent off as part of the store's going out of business sale.

According to the shop's owner, who wished to remain unnamed, Pella experienced declining sales and is not renewing its lease.

"The economy is not the same... It's hard for independents. Independents are struggling," said Pella's owner.

Another women's retailer, Dallas, TX-based The Impeccable Pig, is expected to replace Pella sometime in March, according to Tomorrow's News Today.

Other businesses coming to Shops Around Lenox in the next couple of months include:

  • bevello, a women's clothing boutique based in Raleigh, NC,
  • Athleta, which like lululemon already in the shopping center, sells athletic wear for women and is owned by Gap, Inc. and
  • Bhojanic, a restaurant currently located in Decatur on Clairemont Road. This will be the second location for the restaurant, which serves tapas from northern India.


Atlanta Business Chronicle reports that EDENS paid $40 million for Buckhead Marketplace anchored by Whole Foods, located at West Paces Ferry Road. The amount of the sale, which took place on Dec. 30, was originally undisclosed.

 

Dunkin' Donuts (re-)opened its newly renovated location at 1766 Howell Mill on Jan. 12.

The new renovations include a new modern look that provides "a fresh, friendly, vibrant and engaging environment for guests;" a warmer interior color palette new comfortable seating, atmospheric lighting and a new drive-through window.

There are more than 70 Dunkin' locations in the Greater Atlanta area and eight of them are operated by DBI Stores, LLC, the franchise partner operating the Howell Mill location. DBI will also open another location at 129 N. Glynn St. in Fayetteville this weekend. Beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, the first 75 guests receive free coffee for a year and from 7-11 a.m., all guests will receive a free, reusable coffee mug filled with free coffee.

Swiss watchmaker OMEGA celebrated its grand opening of its first Georgia store at its new location in the Phipps Plaza with a cocktail party attended by several socialites. The 1,239-square-foot store is one of four to open in the U.S. in 2013, making that a total of 27 U.S. OMEGA locations.. The celebration held more than one purpose. The company wanted to recognize its partnership with the Chattahoochee Riverkeeper. Check out photos attached of the cocktail party attendants.
