Phipps Plaza to Get a Facelift This Summer

Upgrades include new warm wood accents, soft seating, Wi-Fi connectivity and chargers, and a concierge service center.

Shoppers in Buckhead will get to check off their shopping lists at a revamped Phipps Plaza this holiday season. Retail real estate giant Simon Property Group, Inc. announced today that it plans to implement large-scale upgrades to the luxury shopping center this summer.

According to the Wall Street Journal’s MarketWatch, interior design improvements include new warm wood accents, soft seating, Wi-Fi connectivity and chargers, and a concierge service center. New features like upgraded LED lighting and lighting in the parking decks will also pack energy-efficient perks.

The plaza will remain open during renovations.

Simon has additional projects in the works, including a makeover of the Peachtree Road entrance. It also plans to construct 320 luxury residential units to Phipps. According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Texas-based Columbus Realty Partners filed plans for the project in 2012, but they were delayed after they were presented to neighbors.

Phipps Plaza’s mall manager Dewayne Herbert said in an announcement that he believed customers would be satisfied with the upcoming renovations.

“These initial enhancements will provide a visible transformation of the interior environment that will be more consistent with the one-of-a-kind Phipps shopping experience that our customers deserve.”
