Publix Opposed To New Business In Chastain Square

The store is the latest to oppose a potentially controversial nightclub in the development.


Scenario may be set to open on Wednesday, but Chastain Square businesses still aren't certain if they're going to have a restaurant or a nightclub as their new neighbor.

The Publix supermarket chain told Channel 2 Action News that it is opposed to the facility if it becomes a nightclub.

Initially, it seems as if the owner of Scenario told local businesses that it was going to be a restaurant. But an online post, according to the report, listed operating hours from 9 pm to 3 am, and listed dancing, security and bartending jobs.

A Publix representative told Channel 2 that its has a clause in its lease agreement prohibiting any nightclub from being in the plaza.

, who represents the community on the Atlanta City Council, also told Channel that he intends to make sure the facility remains a restaurant.

The station also reported that there is not a liquor license on file for Scenario in that location.
