Serna to Speak to Buckhead Business Association Thursday

Weekly breakfast meeting this week features on a conversation related to biking in Buckhead and Atlanta.

Rebecca Serna, who has served as the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition's Executive Director since late 2007, will speak to the Buckhead Business Association Thursday at its weekly breakfast meeting.

The meetings are from 7:30 to 9 a.m. each Thursday at The City Club of Buckhead, located at 3343 Peachtree Road. The cost is $10 for members and $20 for non-members.

Serna holds a Master’s degree from Georgia State's Andrew Young School of Policy Studies in Urban Policy, specializing in Planning and Nonprofit Management.

She got involved in bicycle advocacy through an internship with the Georgia DOT’s Bicycle and Pedestrian program, where she helped write the Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Action Plan and monitored state projects for compliance with local bike plans. She draws on her experience as a Fulbright scholar in Bogotá, Colombia, where she studied participatory planning practices and innovative public transportation projects.

Prior to joining ABC, Serna served as President and co-founder of Citizens for Progressive Transit, and is currently Vice-President of Georgia Bikes. Awards include Advocate of the Year from the Alliance for Biking and Walking and the Longleaf from the Georgia Conservancy.
