State Senate Commends Buckhead Coalition's 25th Anniversary

Sen. Hunter Hill introduced the resolution commending the Coalition and its founding president and former Atlanta mayor Sam Massell.

The Georgia State Senate has adopted a Resolution introduced by Sen. Hunter Hill commending the Buckhead Coalition on its Silver Anniversary, and its founding president Sam Massell for his leadership over the course of the Coalition’s quarter-of-a-century of service.  Without dissent, the Georgia Assembly welcomed Massell and the Coalition representatives who accompanied him, with applause.

The Legislators highlighted the Coalition’s role in getting GA-400 built, raising close to $400,000 for renovation of Atlanta International School, and “being the first organization in the United States to place automated external defibrillators in areas where people congregate”.  The Assembly further emphasized that the Coalition “has served as a supplement to the government, being supportive rather than adversarial.”

Lt. Governor Casey Cagle praised Massell and his long history of civic and elected service.  In turn, Massell addressed the Senators with appreciation for their public contributions, and for the ever-improving relationship between the City of Atlanta’s government and that of our State.
