United Way of Greater Atlanta announced today the October 2 launch of Money Game, a new free mobile app. Powered by the SunTrust Foundation, the app will improve users’ financial literacy. As technology plays an increasingly important role in our lives, the groundbreaking app was developed to expand United Way’s reach outside of the classroom to more individuals and families across its 13-county region.
“According to the National Foundation for Credit Counseling, two in five U.S. adults give themselves a C, D, or F on their knowledge of personal finance and are now saving less than they were a year ago,” says Milton J. Little, Jr., president of United Way of Greater Atlanta. “The Money Game app will help motivate users to increase their financial education and perfectly aligns with our goal of increasing financial self-sufficiency.”
Developed for users 16 and up, the Money Game app features trivia topics ranging from managing your money and protecting yourself from identity theft to becoming debt free. In addition to trivia, the app will provide money management tools and free financial coaches. The free mobile app will be available for download on Android and iOs operating systems via Google Play and the Apple Store today.
“SunTrust is targeting a significant portion of its corporate giving toward initiatives that advance financial education and well-being,” said Jenner Wood, SunTrust chairman, Georgia Division. “We have enjoyed a long relationship with United Way of Greater Atlanta and are pleased to support their unique new consumer education tool through the SunTrust Foundation.”
Those who download the app day-of the launch, will be eligible to win the new Samsung Galaxy tablet. Download the app at www.unitedwayatlanta.org/moneygame
