4 Ways to Stay in the Know in Atlanta

The thing I like most about living in Atlanta is the numerous growth opportunities for young professionals. Every time I turn around there’s a networking event where one can rub shoulders with the best.

The most exciting part is it’s not necessarily some stuffy, awkward event where you have to prepare everything you want to say. It’s a chance to get to know these people, understand their journey and learn from it.

I’ve made a personal goal to attend one event a week. I find with each event I go to, there’s someone there I’ve met before. Even in such a large city, there’s a sense of small community here. Last week I went to the opening of the Glenn Hotel Sky Lounge, and although I didn’t win that deluxe package they were giving away, I had a fabulous time and met some great people.

Here are a few of my go-to sites for finding out about fun, after-work hot spots.

Metromix Atlanta: They have a convenient weekly newsletter listing events, must-see movies and restaurant reviews.

@ATL_Events: If you’re a tweeter, this is the “handle” to follow to stay in the know about Atlanta happenings.

Buckhead Business Association: It’s always great to stay in touch with business leaders in the Buckhead community. The association hosts weekly breakfast meetings, monthly socials and quarterly luncheons.
