Lunchtime Blues

Finding a solution to the lunchtime confusion

What’s a girl to do for lunch these days? My normal routine was to walk across the street, get a little sun, and stroll through Kroger for lunch. Unfortunately for me, the Brookwood Kroger on Peachtree closed its doors a few weeks ago. The grocery store was the perfect lunch spot — reasonably healthy, affordable and conveniently located.

Sure there’s Panera and Chick-Fil-A down the street, and even Baroni if I feel like splurging calories for the afternoon, but my waistline can only take so much. Thank goodness for Jillian Michaels!

On a serious note, it’s funny how the closing of one store can change a person’s entire work routine. Lunch is an important time in the workday. It’s the midday checkpoint, and offers a time to refuel and tackle what remains. Many people choose to skip or work through their lunch, but one UK study found companies lose millions of dollars because of productivity decline from employees not taking lunch breaks. Who knew!
